Party With a Purpose 2009!

Hope for Vision's New York Community of Hope hosted its annual Party With a Purpose on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the West Side Loft.  The event raised over $160,000 for medical research to cure blinding disease.

Nearly 400 guests enjoyed amazing hors d'oeuvres by the Palm Restaurant and Palma Restaurant, specialty cocktails by Skyy Spirits, live jazz by the Aaron Goldberg Trio, and a fabulous silent auction.  In addition, The New York Community honored Sean Cohan with the first Humanitarian Award, presented the Chef of the Year award to Raffaele Ronca from Palma Restaurant, and Deputy Secretary for Health and Human Services Joe Baker accepted the New York Visionary Award on Governor David Paterson's behalf.

A wonderful surprise for the evening was the presentation of a $1 million dollar check from Adrienne Arsht, Chairman Emerita, Total Bank, to Hope for Vision to establish the Adrienne Arsht Hope for Vision Retinal Degeneration Research laboratory at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.  To see more photos from the event, click here.
