The 2nd Annual Family Picnic on September 12th was a blast!

 

Kids from the community had fun fishing, potato sack racing, playing the cornhole game and much more. The event was held at Blackwell Forest Preserve in DuPage county.  Parents also had a chance to mix and mingle as kids went on their own for a fun day of activities.

On September 12, 2009, Hope for Vision’s Miami Community of Hope hosted its 14th Annual Party with a Purpose at the Intercontinental Hotel, raising nearly $500,000 for medical research.

 

This year’s Co-Chairs, Adrienne Arsht, Michael Hanzman, Richard Parrillo, Sr., Maximo Alvarez, Benjamin Leon, Jr., and Sara Chikovsky welcomed over 500 guests for a wonderful evening including hors d’oeuvres by renowned Miami chefs and restaurateurs, an amazing silent auction, live music, dinner and dancing. Hope for Vision is especially grateful to United Auto Insurance Group for underwriting the event.

 

The evening also featured a tribute to HFV’s 2009 Honorees: 2009 Honoree, Tom McCall, Chairman, Legal Affairs, Old American Country Mutual Fire Insurance Company; Humanitarian, Gene Gomberg, CEO, FirstService Management, Inc; Good Will Ambassadors, Alex & Stacy Campos; and Scientist of the Year, Rong Wen, M.D., Ph.D., Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

 

In addition, HFV recognized its National Honorary Humanitarian, Adrienne Arsht, Chairman Emerita, Total Bank. Ms. Arsht contributed $1 million to Hope for Vision to create the Adrienne Arsht Hope for Vision Retinal Degeneration Research laboratory at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.
